Bangor has so much to offer for families who love to explore and have fun (for free!), and I'd love to share some of my favorites. And if you're out and about and interested in learning more about my campaign, there are some easy ways to get connected!

Whether your family enjoys the outdoors or exploring new places, here are some of our favorite things to do in and around the Bangor area:
  • Explore Bangor’s rich history with a walk (or bike ride!) around the Mount Hope Garden Cemetery.

  • Did you know the Zillman Art Museum is Maine's Modern and Contemporary Art Museum, located right in downtown Bangor and free to visit? Check out all the visually engaging art and add it to your to-do's; exhibitions change often!

  • Walk the Kenduskaeg Stream Trail. Take a fun selfie at the overlook.
  • For a quick, easy hike, check out Parks Pond Bluff in Clifton.
  • Learn about birds, and wild animals, or stroll and catch frogs at the Fields Pond Audubon Center in Holden.

  • Take a walk and feed the ducks along the Bangor Waterfront. Be sure to stop by the beautiful six-foot Wabanaki-style canoe sculpture, titled “Living Water” by Mi’kmaq artist Steven Francis Hooke.

  • Play chess at one of the many tables set up for games along the Brewer Waterfront.

  • Have a picnic and check out the waterfalls and fountains at Cascade Park.

  • Explore the incredible art at Sohns Gallery, located in the Rock and Art Shop. While you're there, visit the reptiles in the back corner!

  • Visit the historic Edythe Dyer Library in Hampden for its beautiful children's room and enjoy a quiet walk along the Penobscot River afterward.
