Hey, I'm Katie.
In a nutshell:
I'm a proud Mainer, though I spent much of my early professional career working in various parts of the country as the Director of National Programs for Best Buddies, a nonprofit committed to creating inclusive friendships, integrated employment, and independent living opportunities for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. I returned to my roots in Bangor to continue my work as an inclusive educator and program developer and to raise my family, which includes three school-aged children, alongside my partner, a special educator. With over two decades of experience as an advocate and educator, I've dedicated my career to creating inclusive programs and developing curricula that promote equity in schools nationwide. In addition to my work and family, I currently serve as the Vice Chair of Bangor’s Advisory Committee for Racial Equity, Inclusion, and Human Rights, serve on many Bangor boards, and work to cultivate my friendships. Oh, and I'm always seeking new opportunities to learn. My mission is to establish safe, inclusive spaces where every student feels seen and can thrive. I hope you'll join me in the collaborative effort to build a safe, uplifting, and empowering Bangor that our youth and community truly deserve.
